Who We Are
Southern Counties Rescue was formed by volunteers with Kitten Rescue (an LA-based group) in Orange County. We have been doing rescue and adoptions in Orange County since 2002.
In January 2012, we incorporated and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving Orange, San Diego, and Imperial Counties. We are an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff.
To reduce the number of abandoned and killed cats and kittens in Orange, San Diego and Imperial Counties.
What We Do
Rescuing and Caring for Animals
We rescue off the streets and out of high kill shelters. Here is a breakdown of our rescue and adoption numbers for the past few years.
We rarely take pets from owners, but can help them to place their pet through our Community Foster Program.
Volunteers care for orphaned kittens that need to be bottle-fed, moms with kittens, cats that are injured or sick, and others that need socializing, all in their homes.
Adoption events are held twice a month on Saturday afternoon at Petco in San Juan Capistrano. We also show our cats in their foster homes, depending on the location of the foster and potential adopter. For more information, click Adopt.
Education and Assistance
To help educate the public about many common issues about cats, we provide written resources and referrals to low cost spay and neuter clinics.
