Special Sunday Adoption Event Tomorrow!

Update! We are going to have an adoption event tomorrow, Sunday, July 8, from noon to 4 pm at Petco San Juan Capistrano. We expect at least a dozen kittens, so please come by and meet your new best friend. Please share, especially if you are local.

Because this is last minute, we also really could use a few good volunteers! If you can help with setup (11:15 – noon) or with cleanup (3:45 to 4:45), please reply here or send a note to socountiesrescue@gmail.com. We appreciate the help so much.

Paint this beautiful kitty! No experience required! ⠀

Join us on Wednesday, July 25 at 6 pm at Polly’s in Laguna Hills for our Paint Fundraiser! It will be a fun evening of painting, pie, and socializing. $40 per adult / $30 for 16 and under (your food order is separate). More information and pre-registration at https://www.southerncountiesrescue.org/paint

We must have 25 people minimum to make this event happen! Please join us. It’s been an incredibly busy kitten season and this fundraiser is important to our ability to continue helping as many cats and kittens as possible.

Our fosters are the best

Repost from @_aileenserrano_ on Instagram, who took in foster kittens in an emergency a few weeks ago:

Another one of my foster babies! ? I’m so in love with all of them they’re the sweetest little things they bring me so much joy. Guys please make sure you spray and neuter your cats/dogs. There are way too many animals dying in shelters bc of overcrowding. It’s kitten season and people just keep dumping litters at the shelter while the shelters don’t have enough funds or volunteers to help take care of them and they just end up getting euthanized ? this is where foster parents come in and save the day! By opening up their homes they give these sweet animals a second chance at life. If you have some space in your home and want to help innocent cats/dogs get the life they deserve consider fostering!

2017 Rescue Report

To all of our amazing fosters and supporters, wanted to share with you just how busy a year we had in 2017 saving kitties.

In 2017, we rescued 272 cats and kittens. 167 of these were rescues off the street. Another 105 came from shelters that were overcrowded and couldn’t handle families, bottle babies or sick kitties, so we took them into our foster homes.

We adopted out 263 cats and kittens into their forever homes. Thank you to our wonderful adopters!

We started 2017 with another 127 in our program on January 1 and ended the year with 131 cats and kittens under our care. This is about 100 more kitties than we helped in 2016. 2018 looks like another equally busy year.

In 2017, we spent thousands of dollars at vets and are continuing to do so in 2018. Our adoption fees don’t come close to covering expenses like emergency room visits, eye surgeries, blood panels… so we say a special thank you to anyone who can help us financially. Donations of any amount are gratefully accepted. No donation is ever too small.

Thank you!

Emergency Rescue

We helped with an emergency rescue tonight, sponsoring the kittens and mama cat that Instagram’s @_aileenserrano_ pulled out of an abusive situation that @myfosterkittens shared with us. We greatly appreciate all the offers to help support this adorable family — you can contribute at https://www.southerncountiesrescue.org/donate. If you’re in Orange County and would like to donate food or other items, please get in touch at foster@southerncountiesrescue.org. We are very grateful to you all and are happy we could help 🙂 Many thanks to @sorlando6 for approaching us!

Thank you!

We just wanted to take a moment and thank each and every one of you for sharing, networking and the offers to help. Each time we post a plea for help, the response is overwhelming. People sharing, networking and offering to foster, even when it means stepping out of their comfort zone. We are so grateful for your support. This kitten season is particularly brutal and we couldn’t save the kitties without you!

Team Rescue

Did you know that we bring more than kitties to adoption events?  Every last table, kennel, pen and clipboard is brought to the event each adoption day and unloaded, assembled, and organized by volunteers.  Then at the end of the day, we do it all again.   If you can spare an hour on a Saturday, contact us about volunteering!
